Julie Heldon is the mother of two small children (Don and Janet), who are on board a plane that has crashed. Don and Janet are the only survivors, but they are stranded in the middle of the wilderness of British Columbia, Canada. With the help of her husband Vince Heldon, who is also a pilot, and his forest ranger friend Brandy, Julie embarks on an intensive, but also desperate, search for her missing children. It is urgent, because it has become known that very bad weather is coming and Don and Janet could die of exhaustion. The search had already been delayed because Vince Heldon's ex-wife Nora Stead disagreed with the risky search.
