Men of Texas plot
"GREAT ADVENTURE! Born of the Alamo...bred of the courage of Sam Houston!"
The year is 1866. Shortly after the end of the American Civil War, correspondent Barry Conovan is sent to Texas by his Chicago newspaper to report on everyday life in post-war Texas. Conovan is accompanied by his photographer Sam Sawyer. Despite the good intentions of Northern General Sam Houston, Texas is increasingly in the hands of opportunists and predominantly criminal adventurers from the North. Notorious is one Henry Jackson, a so-called patriot, but he is out in a lot of territory for himself. Jackson is served at his beck and call by an army of outlaws. The situation in Texas becomes even more dangerous for Conovan when he falls in love with Jane Baxter Scott, whom Jackson already has a crush on.
