Step Up 3D is slightly less. Moose is of course a lovely guy, but the story isn't too strong. It's a shame that so few dancers from the previous films returned. The chemistry between Luke and Nathalie is there, but just not enough if you compare, for example, with part 1 and part 4.

The end was a pretty cool dance battle.

Just another Step Up back.

Parts 1 and 2 were still reasonable, but with part 2 the defects in the direction started to set in. Part 1 tried to mix in some crime, but now the dance itself takes center stage. Not annoying, but some elaboration around it would have been welcome.

Of course, these kinds of films never have to have a great screenplay, but the holes that pop up in this part are too extreme. At a certain point, the incredulities and disruptors kick in at such an emergency pace that it starts to feel irritating and lazy.

The acting isn't exactly great either. Sevani still does well, especially considering his young age, but more experienced actors like Vinson and Malambri do not do so well. They can't dance very special either, unfortunately, but the competition they got in this film is so bizarre that it's quite noticeable that their talents are a bit less.

Camera work is also rather dull, but the dance steps are optimally portrayed. Also sometimes nice and flashy and creative with a few figures that dance almost alien. Especially Chadd Smith with his robot passes was really cool.

But there is a lot of talent lacking in writing. There has been some laziness thinking about things outside of dance and the coincidences and implausibility are nevertheless extremely disturbing. A lot of time on the choreography, but little time on the script and the story itself. And at a certain point, that's going to get pretty gnawing.

Bad film actually, but the dance moves shown here are of an extremely high level. Also nicely decorated for the rest and that is the saving grace of the film. Because in terms of direction, the film doesn't offer much beyond that, unfortunately.
