Belfast, Maine plot

A month in the lives of residents of an average American town: Belfast, Maine. Wiseman filmed in the town in October 1996. Recurring elements are mental and physical health care and the food industry; an impressive sequence of more than ten minutes about a sardine processing factory is a film in itself. Everything is filmed in Wiseman's signature style: no talking heads, no commentary, no music, only images drawn directly from reality. Just like in life there is no narrative, there are only events.
