The combination of crime and action goes very well together here. The characters are not action heroes but 'normal' gangsters including the hard dialogues that you often see in gangster films. The consequences of the tension with the Italian mafia are portrayed in an action film worthy manner. Especially the many bombs that explode. The fact that it's based on a true story only makes this better.

I really only have positive things to say. The 70s atmosphere is nicely reproduced including the beautiful cars of that time and the soundtrack is nice. For example, the level 'Godfather' or 'the Departed' does not reach Kill the Irirshman but four stars is certainly worth it.

Stevenson has the charisma of a potato business, and the film will never get over that. In terms of style, the director wants to be a kind of Scorsese, but lacks the finesse for that and sometimes it fails miserably, whole parts of the story are raced through, especially in the beginning. That you as a viewer think: did I miss something? Especially how that main character suddenly leads the Union after a slight threat. Those were question marks for me. And at the end with all those bombs it almost becomes a parody (already explained above), something that can't be intended.
The time frame and atmosphere are okay and I'm not really bored either, but the director really has to learn how to tell a story. 2.5*.
