"Sometimes you have to lose your mind to find your freedom."
Alabama, 1965. Lucille has been abused by her husband for years. In the end, she decides to look for her fortune in Hollywood to make it as a TV star. After killing her husband, she leaves her seven children with her mother and drives to Hollywood. Elsewhere, her 13-year-old cousin Peejoe faces racial inequality. A corrupt sheriff kills a black boy for taking a dip in the local swimming pool. Peejoe is the only witness who does stand up to this injustice.
