This really is "not a dragon of a movie" as someone previously claimed.

The story itself is pretty good, so is the filming, and the tension is fairly well-balanced.

In any case, we enjoyed ourselves with this "Frankenstein" and that seems to be the intention of a film, right? The story is about the student Victor Frankenstein who cannot accept that a human life will eventually come to an end and therefore sets to work with what he believes is a unique way to keep someone alive after death.

This "Frankenstein" was very different from the one we've seen before. Here we are introduced to a "creation" that can feel and speak. A novelty in the films about Frankenstein.

In the end we ended the film with a satisfied feeling and for that a 7.

Apparently this film is viewed very little, because my review from 2017 is still on this magazine. Rewatched but now in 4K unfortunately with English subs but that is still doable. My review above stands. It has become a Hans Klok film with sickly ideas. The ending is especially sickening. A dragon of a movie, but I still give it 3.5 stars.

Movie 3.5

Image (4K) 4.5

Sound 4.5

Ever seen this movie in the cinema in 1994. Geez what a while ago. Then I didn't like the movie.

Now I quite like it, especially because it also shows a bit of history, how people lived then.

The movie never really gets scary or exciting. The monster is more sad and pathetic than dangerous. It is even understandable that the monster gets angry and starts fighting/killing.

Also nice to have seen as a horror fan, but don't have high expectations.
