Lawrence is a spoiled rich man with a gambling debt of $28,000. When his father refuses to help him, he flees his creditors by taking the Peace Corps to Southeast Asia, where he and the garrulous Tom Tuttle and the beautiful Beth Wrexler are tasked with building a bridge for the local population.
