Boston Blackie Goes Hollywood plot

Private detective Horatio 'Boston Blackie' Black and his friend The Runt are about to board a train to Florida when Blackie receives a telegram from his friend Arthur Manleder. In this telegram, Arthur asks Blackie to come to his apartment in New York. Blackie has to get him $60,000 from his safe and fly to Hollywood with it. Just as Blackie tries to get the money from the safe, he is accused of theft by Police Inspector John Farraday and his assistant Sergeant Matthews, who have just arrived. On their way to the police station, the officers let Blackie escape, wanting to use him as bait. They hope he will lead them to the stolen Monterey diamond. In Hollywood, Blackie learns that Arthur has fallen in love with Gloria Lane, who is a member of a criminal gang. This gang also appears to be involved in the theft of the Monterey diamond.
