Reasonable film based on two true events, the murder of street children in the city of Candelaria in 1993, and the kidnapping of a city bus. Through a fictional story, the film knits both events together, and that fictional story doesn't do much more than that as far as I'm concerned, because that fictional story didn't touch me. Despite the occasional violent events, it all seemed a bit distant to me. The level of Cidade de Deus doesn't make it in my opinion. I found the strongest part of the film especially when it comes to the kidnapping of the bus, I am curious about the documentary. 3*

Strong story in which the metropolis of Rio is portrayed as a place where life is not worth much to many. This is a portrait of an unlucky boy who had no choice in life but to survive as a thief and end up fatally. For me, therefore, it was a Brazilian reality film that is somewhat shocking in nature and will definitely stick with you.

Fairly standard.

At first sight, the comparison with Cidade de Deus is quickly made. Were it not that they are 2 completely different films. Only the setting and the backgrounds of the protagonists are the same. CdD is ultimately much more of a crime film, where the focus is on drama and suffering. Nice, but in that respect it's nothing new. Boy has a rough childhood, ends up in the criminal circuit, and then breaks through. CdD managed to distinguish itself by the hardness of the images, Last Stop 174 is a lot calmer in that respect. Other than that, there isn't much to do. But hey, it's not really boring.

2.5*
