The first half hour I just couldn't get into it, I found it long-winded, boring, not interesting at all .. but then the story started to get going a bit. I've seen McConaughy in these roles just a little too often now, which is why I didn't like it that much anymore.
Because 'Ghosts of Girlfriends Past' is based on Scrooge's enormously exploited story, you expect some predictability. You know exactly which ghosts are coming before you watch the film, and of course you also know that he will turn into 'the good guy' in the end.
The biggest disappointment of this film was Garner for me. She never made me laugh or make me curious. I also found that there was little to no chemistry between the lead actors. They were also a bit overshadowed by the other players.
It won't stay with me for long, nor will it put it on a second time anytime soon. I've seen these kinds of movies too many times.

On the one hand you could say that this romcom is quite original, because it is not as standard as many other romcoms do. On the other hand, you can say it's not that original because you're just watching A Christmas Carol, only slightly modified. Original or not, it turned out to be an entertaining film. It is nice that differences in time are used, so that the film does not become boring at all. In addition, the acting of Matthew McConaughey, Michael Douglas and Jennifer Garner is also quite nice. I sometimes found Matthew a bit less, especially in his role of the 'old days'. I personally like the well-known story of Scrooge very much. That's why I watched this film and maybe that's why I could appreciate the film. I didn't find the first half hour that interesting. Only later does the film seem to get going. All in all, quite a nice movie to watch, which in general quite entertained me.

“Love is magic comfort food for the weak and uneducated!”
McConaughey and rom-coms, it doesn't always deliver a direct hit. Ghosts of Girlfriends Past is also very clichéd at times and brings little new under the sun. But McConaughey is another charismatic protagonist and Michael Douglas steals the show as an old womanizer. Emma Stone is also nice, and Garner has a nice chemistry with McConaughey. She's playing a bit of a drab type, but she's still trying to make something out of it. Ghosts of Girlfriends Past is not a film that will stay with you for a long time, but it is sufficient as an entertaining snack.
