The Mayfair Set plot

In four episodes, Adam Curtis chronicles a historical trajectory leading from the breakup of the British colonial empire to the undermining of political sovereignty under Thatcher's rule. Central to this story is a group of rich and powerful men who gamble at the Clermont Club, a luxurious casino in the London borough of Fairmont. These financial pirates were instrumental in the transition from the welfare state to a system in which the market decides the fate of the working class.
