Mathias Sandorf plot

Count Mathias Sandorf has taken over the leadership of a secret opposition party organizing the fight against his country's despotic regime. One day his daughter tells him that she is in love with Frédéric of Rotenbourg, the governor of the province. Some time later, a letter from Mathias is intercepted by a banker and an unscrupulous adventurer. They report the count and Mathias is arrested along with two lieutenants and a doctor. All four receive the death penalty.
