It's their senior year in high school and Troy and Gabriella can't get used to the idea of being separated from each other. Together with the other Wildcats, they decide to put on a musical in which they can express their feelings regarding the uncertain future.

I was forced to watch all three parts of HSM at work, under light duress, because the girl I'm working with is head over heels in love with Zac Efron. And admittedly: it's not a bad thing to look at. Neither does she. A standard teen movie full of beautiful people who steal the show with fun songs and dances. Is there a story in it? Quite well, for the average teenager there are interfaces with their own lives and the situations the young people encounter are very recognizable.
The only disadvantage of this film is that the songs stay in your head the whole day, in my case even 3 days after I watched it.
Very nice for teenagers! Nice ending to this film series, and certainly the best of the 3.

With part 2 a nice revival within this series but back at school it drops back to the reasonable level of the first part. Songs here are actually more annoying than ever and story-wise it's even more stupid (but not in a positive way as with part 2). Fortunately, the high school atmosphere remains very pleasant and the same goes for Hudgens. Again some nice Tisdale moments, only not nearly as strong and appropriate as in the previous part. Lots of senior year drama which doesn't do the feel much good either. Slightly too many attempts to conjure up some drama on screen which doesn't really work. Humor remains very nice at times (especially due to the supporting cast) and plus Hudgens and the very enjoyable high school atmosphere ensure that it all looks very easy.
