Sergeant James O'Hearn is court-martialed for a multitude of offenses and sentenced to 143 years in prison or, in the worst case, the death penalty, but he refuses to testify or defend himself. Showgirl Ginger Martin cares about O'Hearn's fate and she stands up for him. She tells a story about how she met the marines James O'Hearn and his buddy Davy White in Shanghai and how circumstances caused them to be stranded on Namou, an island that falls under the French Vichy government.
