I'm not quite sure what to make of this part. I thought it was all pretty nice in itself. The Christmas atmosphere is nicely captured with all those lights and such, but otherwise the film feels, sometimes even literally, ice-cold.

The two main characters get along better and better as the night progresses, but they also experience nasty moments together, such as the dead man, the two men being sprayed with ice-cold water, and a few other things. Otherwise, it is quite watchable; the ending had a certain charm too.

In summary, certainly not as good as the first part, but more engaging than part 2. I give it a passing grade.

Unlike the previous two parts I saw, this installment felt more like a 'feature'. Besides the very intriguing ethical question raised in this part, it is primarily the plot that is also captivating. A touching adventure between two former lovers, one of whom simply cannot move on. Very beautiful. The Christmas setting completes it, the desolation counterbalanced by the warmth of Christmas. This seems like a fluke to me. Already a pleasant surprise, as I hadn't expected an installment with this rating.

A peculiar film, this third installment of the Dekalog series. The atmosphere Kieslowski manages to create is very strong. The entire film takes place on Christmas Eve, and the combination of the Christmas lights and the deserted, grey, dark streets creates a very melancholic atmosphere.

The storyline about the woman who doesn't want to be alone on Christmas Eve and therefore keeps her ex-boyfriend with her all night through a strange game didn't really interest me. Although they do experience some absurd things, such as the dead man they go to identify and the men in the cell getting sprayed with water.

I would put it on the level of the first part and better than the second part, but I am not really convinced by this series yet.

3*
