Strange movie. It's cheap Hong Kong schlock, with a kind of indeed folkloric story about a battle through the ages between the Cheungs and a demon nicknamed Evil Cat. Well, that's the myth, here we only see the battle in the present. But it's less fun than I hoped. Very cheap in terms of effects, but that doesn't surprise me. Also not the filth and grittiness that some of my previous Hong Kong horrors had. In that sense, this is a pretty neat horror (in the clean sense, not good). A lot of kung fu fighting, as is often the case in Hong Kong films, moments of bizarrely bad slapstick, but also just a story that doesn't really manage to become interesting. It's still watchable, but they have made Hong Kong a lot more fun.
