Daïnah la Métisse plot
After twenty days of sailing in the Pacific Ocean, in a blazing heat, a boat arrives in Ecuador. In the evening there is a masquerade ball where the passengers dance during a seance of magic and spiritualism. Dainah, a young free-spirited woman, does not seem to love her husband. She gets some fresh air on the bridge and meets Michaux, the engineer of the boat. The latter tries to hug her but she flees. The next day, she remains depressed in her cabin, without speaking to her husband. But in the evening she returns to the bridge and sees Michaux again. The next morning she is gone.
