It is 1661. The mighty Cardinal Mazarin dies. Louis had entrusted him with quite a bit of power, but now wants to exercise the political functions of Mazarin himself. That is why he is not naming a successor. However, he is thwarted by Foucquet, who is responsible for finance in Louis' government.
