The movie starts off terribly! The story gets going very simply and it is all very unbelievable. That kid (Maggie Grace) acts really exaggeratedly childish. Ugh, how annoying. If I hadn't checked the rating on Moviemeter beforehand, I probably would have turned this movie off already.

But then, when she is kidnapped, the movie gets exciting and then I start to understand the high ratings for this film. Even then, it is all rather unbelievable that he manages to pull that off all by himself, but okay, that is bad enough. But I can't get that bad beginning out of my head and the ending is bad again too. Maggie is already skipping around again, even though she was kidnapped just a few days ago and her friend is dead.

Very good movie.

The subject matter, which is very similar to that of Man on Fire, really appealed to me. Furthermore, the story is well developed. It all starts very calmly. Soon they are on their way, and when they run into a boy , partly thanks to the title, you already know where it is going. The rest of the story unfolds into blood-curdling chases and James Bond-esque action scenes. These looked really good. It was wonderful how cool-headed he was, just as it should be. In other films, it is often the case that they hesitate a lot first, get closer, and then still mess it up. Here, at least, he just shoots. It was great how he still managed to save himself during that scene where he is hanging onto the pipe.

The fact that it was all very American shouldn't spoil the fun. Just a delightful action movie that you have to take with a grain of salt and just not think about it, just watch.

Acting above average, although that daughter did act really poorly at times. I could have done without the ending either. It came across as too forced that they had to stop now because that actress obviously couldn't sing at all.

A delightful film that you shouldn't take too seriously.

3.5*

Heavy theme with a mediocre story and mediocre acting from Famke Janssen, among others. Neeson acted well, but his character was not developed enough to make it believable.

The good thing about the film was that this subject was brought to light. Of course, it is terrible that these kinds of things happen.

It is just a shame that the film is based too much on that emotion, causing it to lose sight of reality and, in the end, morality as well.

This film falls short on all fronts.
