In a boarding school, the girls are tormented by the strict authoritarian regime of headmistress Bernarda, who seems to take all her anger out on them. Lucia, the deputy headmistress, on the other hand, does everything to make their lives as pleasant as possible and is much appreciated by the students. One night, Claudia, one of the students, suffers a nightmare in which she hears a ghostly voice calling her name from a tower in the garden. When she goes there in her dream, she discovers the body of a girl who was hanged. The next day she tells it to her classmates, who are very enthralled by the story. Despite the director's explicit prohibition, they decide to go to the tower together. However, before they can reveal the secret, they are caught and severely punished. They have to spend the whole winter break at the boarding school. What they don't realize is that something terrible is about to happen.
