Part 1 has already sunk very far into my memory, but is it really necessary to watch it first if you want to understand part 2? No, probably not, I thought.

It started very badly. This whole "Now let me solve the mystery for my dead sister" thing is boring. What happened next became more and more ridiculous and annoying. The characters were insufferable, what a terrible lazy. Desmond took the cake. The story surrounding the statue was also not interesting at all. Typically an example of a movie that you would like to watch on fast forward, but even then it actually takes too long.

The SE are really horrible, that scene where that woman falls off her face, or where that guy gets ripped apart? awful. I don't understand the point of it either. Is it meant to be humorous? Or do you have to find it scary or rancid? No clue what they wanted with it.

Of course there's also some (lesbian) sex to be thrown in and some naked tits in the picture, and for many people that will undoubtedly be the highlight of the film, because it has nothing more to offer, in any way. Or you have to be a lover of gallons of blood and horribly nasty characters that are threatened and maybe, if you're lucky, die quickly.

Entertaining as much as possible. Suffers from the same defects as many haunted house films from this period (but especially early 2000) such as Thirteen Ghosts and of course the predecessor of this Return to House on Haunted Hill. Terrible characters (the bastard, as always, in front) and rather cheesy editing. A lot of flash work, jump-cutting.. Can work well, but not in this amount. The best thing is if it just takes its moments and -like a typical haunted house at the fairground- bombards the viewer with some goofy creatures. It scores quite a few points in that regard.

Not bad, but one that is very similar to other films in the same genre. You can easily fill a lost hour with it, but really a profound film? No, this one isn't.

Other than that I have little to add.
