Not special.
Haven't seen the original yet, but I can almost guess that this doesn't make it to the original. It started out hopeful with a very interesting story, but it's all rather boring and not very atmospheric or effectively developed after that.
Rush is fun as the millionaire, but things quickly turn a bit when the "tension" is about to kick in. Something is missing, it's not exciting. A number of ghosts and ghosts don't exactly help with that, but a lot of details have been devoted to the house.
It is certainly unpredictable, with an original approach here and there, but it wasn't really enough. This should have been much scarier and more effective, because the end result just isn't challenging, exciting or atmospheric enough. The fairly well-known cast doesn't help me either, unfortunately.
Still, extra points for the acting and the nice and creative house.

Too bad for the five of us, they thought they could get rich quick. Unfortunately for them, they don't spend the night in a house like ours, but in a haunted house, which was hermetically sealed and that remained until sunrise the next morning. So instead of a night's sleep, it turned into a night of running around from one horrific adventure to another gruesome situation. And only hoping that they would live to see the other day. And that certainly also applied to our Dutch Famke Janssen.
A reasonable horror film with a nice running time of over an hour and a half! A nice movie for a weekday evening.
A nice 6.5.
