Marche à l'Ombre plot
François (Gérard Lanvin), an unemployed guitarist, and Denis (Michel Blanc), an inveterate hypochondriac, return to Paris penniless and end up in the criminal circuit. They meet the very attractive dancer Mathilde and François falls in love immediately. It's mutual, but Mathilde doesn't want a relationship, as she will leave for New York in a few days for a prestigious dance course. François is so busy making plans to make Mathilde his forever that he doesn't realize that Denis - and therefore François himself - is getting further and further into trouble with criminal gangs and the police.
