Fashion designer Melanie Carmichael is suddenly engaged to New York's most eligible bachelor. However, Melanie has some secrets from her past, such as Jake, a redneck ex, whom she married in her school days. Melanie decides to return to Alabama to put an end to her past once and for all.

A typical Reese Witherspoon cliché movie. It's not high-quality, innovative or surprising, but despite that, the film still looks away reasonably well. Incidentally, the beginning is horribly bad, but luckily from the moment that the film mainly takes place in Alabama, everything gets better and sometimes funny. Reese Witherspoon plays solid as usual and the same goes for the part of Fred Ward.

Watched this one and thought it was a great movie. Still had to laugh a few times and thought it was an entertaining film.
The cast was on a roll and the movie looked good.
Of course it didn't end super surprising, but it wasn't disturbing.
I didn't think there was anything wrong with it.

A romantic little thing, but the as always fantastic Witherspoon keeps it fun for a long time. Witherspoon carries the film effortlessly and especially her interactions with Josh Lucas creates some fireworks. Every cliché is crossed off again and the ending is of course predictable, but Sweet Home Alabama has its charm and is certainly not boring to watch. But with someone other than Witherspoon in the lead role, this movie would have been a lot less.
