Two brothers, Ben (Clark Gable) and Clint (Cameron Mitchell), participate in a cattle transport from Texas to Montana. While driving to Texas, they save Nella (Jane Russell) from the Native Americans and she decides to ride with them. Ben and Nella fall in love, but Ben isn't ambitious enough for her. Nella soon meets the boss of the cattle-ride contest. Who will she choose? And will the brothers make it to Montana?
