Stronghold plot

"Rebellion scorched the enemy's mightiest..."

Mary Stevens (Veronica Lake), the wealthy owner of a silver mine, is visiting Mexico around 1850 during the Juarez Revolution. She is kidnapped by Don Pedro Alvarez (Arturo de Córdova), who wants a ransom for her to finance their revolt against the overlord, Emperor Maximillian of Austria. During her hostage-taking, Mary realizes that Don Alvarez is not an unscrupulous villain, but an honorable and patriotic man.
