I'll keep it short. The last ten years are certainly not among the best years of Steven Seagall's career. Mercenary For Justice fits well into that picture, because despite the still quite decent acting, the film is messy. Very messy actually. Steven's band of mercenaries actually has the erratic qualities of a mercenary. The action goes in all directions, without it really being clear what is going on. As if a number of (important) scenes were deliberately left out of the story.

And where did Steven's ponytail go? That's just as sacrilegious as Chuck Norris without a beard and Arnold Schwarzenegger without an accent.

Action movie starring Steven Seagal made for the DVD market. The idea is somewhat similar to the successful television series "Prison Break", because here too the main character has to enter a prison to get someone out.

John Seeger (Steven Seagal) is a mercenary with an impeccable reputation. This is also known to a billionaire, namely Ahmet Dasan (Peter Butler), whose son Kamal has disappeared behind the bars of the South African "Randveld" prison. He has little reason to believe that his son will be released soon, and he finds it difficult to accept that. John must therefore, of course for a lot of money, free the boy from the infamous and maximum-security prison.

Sounds like a simple plot, but it's portrayed quite intricately, making it unclear at times. The fight and shooting scenes look good and the latter also applies to the busty Jacqueline Lord.

Although it has been some time, I have both Today You Die (2005) and Urban Justice (2007) are at 3.5*. Very decent Seagal flicks apparently, especially after the turn of the century. So I started this collaboration with FauntLeRoy with high hopes, but it didn't last. There are just too many weird choices being made. Added extra dialogue with cheap dubs, 99% of the time it's a stupid one-liner or info adding 0.0. Especially when it comes to Seagal's voice, it's just too laughable for words. Just don't. It also opens with a decent amount of action, but then falls completely dead again. That is only made good at the end, but then the damage is already done.
