Wanted to see a JCVD movie. I wasn't expecting much from it, from experience watching his movies. But this one was quite ok. Lots of action and some typical JCVD one to one fights that are not too bad. However, the emotional background doesn't appeal to me. Also many clichés, such as the barfight in the beginning. But hey, it's a JCVD movie. Have seen worse. Ideal weekday action picture. Must admit that JCVD may still be there physically. And kudos/carrot to Bugs Bunny's supporting role...

The films of JCVD may not be top films, sometimes those fights are fun and it is somewhat decorated with colorful fringe characters. In The Shepherd the fights are too sparse and the rest is absolutely uninteresting. Van Damme hasn't been doing badly lately, but this film isn't one of them.
