Hot Shots! Part Deux plot
"Just deux it."
After all the adventures in Hot Shots, Topper Harley (Sheen) has retired to work at a monastery as a handyman. He is asked to join a secret mission where he must rescue the rescue team that was going to rescue the rescue team that was supposed to rescue prisoners of war of the Gulf War. With a big wink to Rambo and Commando, Topper takes up the challenge, helped by the president, where a few screws are quite loose.

Part deux is in all respects in the same vein as the first part. Only I have more with
Rambo then with Top gun. The level and prank jokes are similar. Bland here and there, but equally successful. Especially the fact that you as a viewer are not allowed to rest and that there is always something about to happen, is pleasant. Humor is central and that's how it should be.
Nice parody of Rambo, but the bits about Robin Hood or Terminator were also appreciated. Always nice to see you back! Bridges is definitely the star, wonderful now as president. Great character!

Still slightly better than the original, and that's mainly because the lame fun is a bit less over the top maybe - or maybe the timing a bit better. And Rambo as the target of the parody might also be a better fit than Top Gun from part 1. Nice that the whole cast is back, and a brilliant little role for Rowan Atkinson - who probably also got the inspiration for the later Johnny English films here.
Just like with part 1, some of the jokes only work poorly - either because they're just too bland, or because if you remember them from a previous time, some of the joke still falls away. But the fencing on the stairs still worked.
