Boring movie. The film didn't appeal to me, but I became a fan of Philip Seymour Hoffman and because of the jubilant reviews I went to see it anyway. But even Hoffman fails to make the uninteresting story about and of an extremely narcissistic writer interesting, and I have no idea what others like about it. Or maybe I get that: both the death row inmate and the writer need each other and although they also love each other, they must use each other to survive on their own. The convict tells how he really liked his victim, even when he slit his throat. In fact, the writer does the same with him. Conversely, the writer wants to make the condemned human for the public, but in order to do so he dehumanizes himself. Overall a good movie on paper, but for me the movie didn't work.

Capote's character - played incomparably by Philip Seymour Hofman - is portrayed on the screen as if with a filleting knife.

Film that captivates all along the line and does not go under because of the hustle and bustle of similar crime and conviction films.

Synthesis : Something or someone turns out to be a lucrative "gold mine", but sometimes it is not without moral pain and damage.

Didn't know the book, as well as the character Truman Capote, but did know PSH.

Well deserved Oscar. Bruce Greenwood and the criminal's supporting role is also good.

I agree with the rest of the reviewers, as a film it doesn't stick to your body, but Seymour-Hoffman's performance does. Also a good time image representation of the 50s/60s and also the matching decors, scenery and clothing were realistic and on point.
