In one word: boring. It might well be one from the very old days. But the alien looked like it had escaped from a puppet theater. The spacecraft looked like a tin dart. The Invisible Man from 1933 looked much better, even though it was made roughly 20 years earlier.

1.5*

Far from a top film, of course, but the film definitely has its moments (the first confrontation with the alien is quite exciting); unfortunately, the rest seems to lead nowhere.

Still, quite an impressive achievement in itself, considering the budget and short runtime.

In the 1950s, sci-fi films were somewhat less spectacular in terms of special effects by today's standards. A spaceship, one spaceman, and a hypnosis beam—that is all we have to go on. Reasonably well told, the film is quite short, which keeps the pace going. Not a classic, but slightly above average in the genre.
