Brilliant movie. This was on TV once when I was a kid, but left after ten minutes, didn't like it.

Now, about thirty-five years later, damage has been made up by buying DVD and my conclusion: This was surely a great childhood sin at the time . Catch 22 is a wonderful satire, as they are rarely made. From start to finish wry, black humor that is presented in a fairly subtle way. Reminded me of MASH in style and with those often absurd jokes of the better films of Mel Brooks. You have to kind of like this kind of joke and want to see it through, but if you can, you'll see a great, intelligent movie. Only downside: Too bad Nichols didn't get Jack Nicholson for the central lead role, although they had worked together before. Arkin is certainly not bad, but Nicholson could certainly have given more substance to this character. But in general: Don't miss this one.

Good film in which a pilot from the army wants to have himself declared crazy so as not to have to fly anymore. This anti-war film was undoubtedly a lot more urgent at the time and the film is a bit on the long side. But there are some funny dialogues that are often in line with the title. A cast with quite a few well-known names and also some fairly spectacular shots.

Nice movie with a great cast.. from Garfunkel to Welles. 'Catch-22' looks nice and has some absurd, silly and funny moments, where the whole towards the end turns into a special atmosphere and somewhat slackens as far as I'm concerned. It seemed the sharpest was from the writing. At least for me.
