European architect Harald Berger (Paul Hubschmid) falls in love with Indian princess Seetha (Debra Paget) who is destined for Chandra (Walther Reyer), the Maharaja of Eshnapur. Because their love is impossible, they flee from Eshnapur. Chandra doesn't let this happen, however, and sends his mercenaries after them.
