Apparently, there are people in real life who are as cold and cold as Christopher and his mother. Fortunately, not around me (as far as I know).
The film is a character study of a man who is manipulated from various sides into a negative spiral and who does not have the strength or will to get out of it. Despite the excellent acting of Ulrich Thomsen, I was constantly annoyed.

Danes excel at realistic dramas revolving around human conflicts. Christoffer faces a dilemma when he must choose between two possible continuations of his life. In Stockholm, he has a beautiful wife and a thriving restaurant; in Denmark, he literally inherits the family business and figuratively the character of a virago. Christoffer makes a pleasant impression, is eloquent and well-dressed, but when he's under pressure and has had too much to drink, the psychopathic traits of a hard-nosed businessman emerge. As a company director, he'll do anything, and there's a scene involving sexual violence.
Within the company and within the family, various conflicts are brewing, leading to a figurative fratricide and a years-long feud. Romeo and Juliette is present on stage and on a poster. An impossible love also threatens to develop between Christoffer and Maria. He spies on her several times like a predator stalking its prey.
Two cameras follow the actors from a distance, giving them ample freedom to move and improvise. Ulrich Thomsen and Lisa Werlinder deliver intense dialogue, where silences and facial expressions are as important as the words spoken. There are no technical effects, but occasional music is added. Clashes between conflicting characters are shown without unnecessary frills.
