The Tuxedo plot

"Suit up for action!"

Taxi driver Jimmy Tong discovers that there's really only one rule when working for playboy millionaire Clark Devlin: keep your hands off his expensive tuxedo. However, when Devlin is temporarily out of the picture after an accident, Jimmy can't resist the temptation and puts on the tuxedo. He finds out that the suit turns out to be more than what it seems, and he is drawn into the dangerous world of espionage. He has to work with a novice as a partner who has even less experience than him.

Jackie Chan.

You expect a nice fighting film with a lot of action, but instead this is a somewhat moderately successful comedy. I think that puts a lot of people on the wrong track... because it's not all that bad, I think to be honest. Pleasant entertainment that you don't have to pay too much attention to, because if you're not paying attention, you haven't missed anything. Obviously not meant seriously in any way, and made with fun - and that shows on the viewer.

The Tuxedo, a costume with the necessary gadgets long before Iron Man and Spider-Man in MCU used it. A story that is between Mission Impossible and Upgrade.

Jackie Chan is showing a real American film here, so the well-known mix of humor and action contains more humor than action this time. Chan isn't bad, but he's not going all out here. The fringe characters are too slapstick, although I have to admit that Chan and Hewitt do click. The focus is a bit too much on the story and that's not really what it's about, give some more action please. Still quite enjoyed it.

That's funny. It's always nice when a movie doesn't take itself too seriously. The plot is indeed a bit of a mix of James Bond and a superhero movie. Not Chan's best movie, but still some moments where he can show off his skills, such as the "destruction mode" scene. It hurts a bit to see everything smashed and kicked, but it kind of shows what he can do. Chan also sometimes makes it seem like the suit is controlling him, rather than having everything under control, which is of course very well done. Not great, but fun nonetheless. 2.5*.
