Alice's Restaurant plot
"Every Generation Has A Story To Tell."
Conscription beckons for folk singer Arlo Guthrie. Pending whether or not he is called up, he wants to go to school for a few more months to become a "suitable" American. He sees his friend Roger again, but he is sent away after a few days. Arlo also clashes with the authorities moments later and he decides to visit Roger. He has taken up residence in an old church with Alice and Ray. They want to turn the church into a restaurant.

As a portrait of the hippie world in America, it is still quite a nice film. This is a film without the overly clichés for that matter. But as a movie, it's not all that great. The story hangs together from loose sand and there is often very bad acting.
