Seed of Chucky plot

"Fear the second coming."

The good-natured doll Glen is an orphan, born of the bizarre relationship between the diabolically murderous doll Chucky and his equally deranged bride Tiffany. When plans are made to make a movie about his parents' heinous crimes, Glen heads to Hollywood to bring his bloodthirsty mother and father back to life. However, the family doesn't seem to get along very well. Chucky can't believe his son isn't up for a good kill. And Tiffany can't believe her favorite actress Jennifer Tilly will be in the movie!

An improvement on the previous part but still not what I would like to see from Chucky. Fortunately, the comedy tour would end with this film and the more serious Curse of Chucky was released this year.

This is surely the Moonraker of the series, where you hope it will be back with both feet on the ground. Not that you should ever take the series seriously, but it goes towards a children's series if there weren't so many kills. Tilly was fun once, but creates a grind and especially Glen/Glenda is just annoying. Chucky is fighting more to claim his place in this movie than to get the necessary kills. Still the low point of the series, luckily it goes back in the right direction after that.

Special.

For series like Chucky, I'm not going to put too much effort into watching them in order. I just watch what suddenly appears in front of my screen. I started with part 6, then the original and the reboot and now part 5. If all goes well I'll start part 7 again tomorrow.

Chucky has always had a sense of comedy, especially the dark side. I hadn't seen the real comedy films from the series until now. I find it quite funny here and there, but certainly not for a whole movie. Tilly endlessly making fun of herself also becomes quite boring in the long run.

The jokes occasionally hit the mark, but Tilly's slow voice often detracts from the experience. The timing is often broken in this film. The intentions are nice and the film doesn't take itself seriously for a moment, but in the end it was also nice and you prefer to watch a murder instead of the next joke.

Visually it is at least half. It's pretty fun, but nothing special. The kills are definitely worth the effort, but they don't show up much. A remarkably low carnage count as far as I'm concerned and it also takes too long for them to follow each other, which is great in a film that only lasts 86 minutes.

I don't think the addition of Glen is that successful either. It seems to be more of an addition out of sheer boredom on the part of the makers. It is also not well developed, except for a number of special moments. It often just comes from Chucky and Chucky alone, because I think Tiffany and Glen can take the batteries out again.

It's entertaining but also very nonsensical. The film really doesn't take itself too seriously. Tilly, you could be screwing yourself too much. Extra points for some nice kills and sometimes nice jokes. Besides, it doesn't take too long either, but rather give me a thrilling Chucky movie.
