Somewhat distant (consciously chosen) crime/police thriller, partly thanks to Val Kilmer. His character has a no-nonsense character. The film is sober but effective. A relief as far as I'm concerned, because I have a brother dead to the terrible and cliché Jason Statham types that appear way too often in this genre. The working method of the secret agents in this film is closer to how it would actually go. not running unnecessary risks, straight to the point and making conscious choices when taking action. Especially the infiltration scenes where the secret agents perform plays to get information are nicely done.

All in all, this remains at the level of eg a separate '24' or 'The Shield' episode. Certainly nice as a snack, but not a film that will stay in the memory for a long time.

Reasonable movie. What strikes me is that many blockbusters or wide-release films are very explanatory. Everything is served ready-made. This is not the case with this film, but it is the other extreme. Many scenes, dialogues do not matter at all, others do, so it is up to the viewer to select the main lines and thus understand the story. Could have been a little different in my opinion, but it's something different. The story seems very complicated because of what I just mentioned. It's a shame when in the second half it turns out that the story isn't as complicated as it seemed before, the fairly simple plot twist is just as nice, but then it is pre-drilled to the end.

Good acting and some exciting scenes.

Nice and somewhat complicated thriller. Not everything is indicated, so pay close attention otherwise you will miss the how and why of the story. Most exciting because of that. The story is a bit sought after, but also not so unlikely that it becomes unbelievable. A bit unbelievable in the details - there are some very easy deaths every now and then.

Val Kilmer does a pretty good job for a change, little criticism possible on his role here. The downside of that is that there is very little room left for the other actors.
