A special man does not make a special film. I usually find Crowe an appealing actor, but this rendition of John Nash with his mannerisms, traits and facial expressions has been getting on my nerves right from the start. That takes most of the ground under the feet of the film, Howard's dull and silky approach does the rest. The delusional world of Nash consists of little more than some wandering figures and the accompanying struggle does not want to come loose.
Such an exaggerated moment as the one with the pouring rain and the crying baby, it immediately turns the neck, while the stomach turns as the wife This is real starts to mumble. Strangely enough, the Nash of age still manages to arouse some sympathy, but then the film has now reached its most soggy segment to put the centerpiece in the spotlight once more. All by the book of emotion. Far too safe and saltless to leave a lasting impression.

The first makes the film simply not interesting, the second makes the film irritating at times. Crowe is fine otherwise, visually it's all okay and although saltless it doesn't get very boring, but there is really nothing special in this. Solidity trump.
