Evil Spawn plot

A scientist uses microbes from the planet Venus in experiments to learn more about aging. However, before he can complete his work, he dies. His assistant uses an actress as a test subject and injects a sample of the substances found on Venus into her blood. She then changes into an insect-like 'alien' being.

I only saw a version of this that lasted only 70 minutes but that was more than enough, some of the gore effects are nice but the rest is not worth watching, the transformation is downright bad and the acting is not that good either.

Last year's Substance had a similar theme: an actress afraid of growing older and her desire to take on roles that are being taken over by younger actresses. So what do you do? You take a miracle serum, of course, offered by a woman who just barged into your house.

These unbelievable choices make the film, which is already very mediocre, even worse; add in the weird cuts and technical shortcomings and there isn't much left.

The extreme shortening will not have done the film any good, but the 90-minute version could not have been much better.
