The Last American Virgin plot
"The comedy that puts ZIP into being a teen..."
The friendship of a group of young friends struggling with sex, drugs and work is jeopardized when they compete for the attention of a beautiful lady. The film is a remake of Boaz Davidson's own Eskimo Limon (1978), better known as Lemon Popsicle (the first film in the series of films that was released in the Netherlands as the Hot Bubblegum series). Davidson turned 1950s Israel into 1980s America.

Apparently a remake of Eskimo Limon that I've never seen before.
The Last American Virgin actually did exactly what I expected, just fun entertainment with quite a few topless ladies.
Only in the last half hour does the film completely turn around, suddenly nice fast songs become ballads and it suddenly becomes a romantic film. Until the end, which I didn't fully see coming but wasn't super surprised either.
The first hour I liked this film and watched it very well, a pity about the slow and much too serious last half hour.
Normally I hate happy endings, but for a movie with a pretty high porky content I found the ending a bit too bitter.
For the first hour I would have easily given a 3.5, but the last half hour deducts half a star.

Banal teen comedy in the vein of the popular "Porky" films at the time. This one has a serious twist towards the end, but the problem is that the film forgets to be funny. I don't know the Israeli original and I'll leave it that way.

Gary is a teenager who, together with his friends (Rick and David), sometimes gets into quite a bit of trouble when it comes to sex.
When Gary meets Karen (a girl who has just moved into their neighborhood) he falls head over heels in love with her, but she doesn't like him and falls for the bad boy Rick.
This teen comedy with a fairly serious undertone is sometimes compared to Porky's, but I think that is totally unfair, the film certainly has its somewhat lame comedic moments but they serve more as a filler for the main story of Gary, who by the way does not like Karen's girlfriend (who does like him) because he only has eyes for Karen.
When Karen turns out to be pregnant by Rick, he immediately dumps her. Gary sees his chance and arranges an abortion for her to get into her good graces, but his happiness and her gratitude are short-lived.
Besides the comedy that is just meant to provide some laughs between the serious scenes, this is an intriguing film with the theme, Nice guys finish last, and that is executed quite well, there is no happy ending for Gary and that makes the film so much better than all those romantic teen comedies
