Alleman plot

Documentary in which Haanstra portrays the Dutch population with all its peculiarities. Often in scenes shot with a hidden camera. Haanstra shows in images and sound that the Dutch, all neatly registered in the population register, lived in 1963 in a well-organized and well-arranged country.

Recently saw this film on nostalgia net, at least the successor to that net. Even after many viewings, I continue to find this a fascinating documentary, even after so many years this image of the inhabitants of this country has lost none of its power. The way in which Haanstra holds up a mirror to us is still relevant today, move the images from the film about 50 years and you get the same shots, only of course much more modern, noisier, more diverse and above all much more expressive, but the subjects remain the same. Love, children, birth, future plans, affection for animals, leisure activities, but also youth protests that make themselves heard, but also death and commemoration. Growing up in the 60s, an adolescent in the 70s, this film is always a beautiful document of the times for me. What completes the film is Carmiggelt's commentary, in the 1970s there were the series of melancholy stories for the fireplace, how I hated that voice, but only now do I understand what a great storyteller this man was.

Haanstra once again proves himself to be a great observer and offers a

excellent sample of the Dutch population in the sixties. From people of

the big city and the countryside, in different seasons of the year. Skilled

documentary in which various facets of Dutch popular culture are reviewed

passing by, and certainly of nostalgic value for the elderly among us. With also one

delightful voice over by Carmiggelt.

A fun documentary about the daily life of Dutch people in the 1960s with a focus on Dutch folk culture. In a production of one and a half hours, a lot of information is provided, mainly purely visual, where the aim is simply to observe. The voice-over is limited and is merely supportive, not really explanatory.

Summer, winter, city or countryside, it's all covered. Of course, skating should not be missed, but it was nice to be reminded of that special Frisian fierljeppen. I also really liked the sports images, the old-fashioned cycling and motocross. Or the entertaining football. You could relax on the beach or have a nice chat in the city.

In that respect it will not differ much from, say, Belgium and I could certainly imagine something about it. Nice documentary with especially beautiful, cleverly edited images. Perfect at speed too. Fine!
