Young Ken McLaughlin can't seem to do anything right in the eyes of his father. The boy gets into trouble all the time and isn't the best student either. To teach him some responsibility, his parents give him a young stallion, which he has to take care of completely independently. Ken doesn't like it at first, but over time Flicka becomes his greatest treasure.
