The Crash plot
The documentary follows the case of Mackenzie Shirilla, a 17-year-old who drove her car into a building in Ohio at 160 km/h. Her boyfriend Dominic Russo and his friend Davion Flanagan were killed in the accident. As detectives search the wreckage, what initially appears to be a tragic accident begins to look like a carefully planned crime.

Solid true crime. You get to hear the different sides. On the one hand, you understand the parents who are so determined to secure a conviction. On the other hand, you also keep open the possibility that Mackenzie Shirilla is a victim of public perception. Very young, indeed, and punished very harshly. It is remarkable how the American justice system is so permeated with a certain kind of hypermoralism. Just look at how this public prosecutor goes wild with sentimental character sketches of her. Although the facts really do speak against Shirilla, such as the fact that she drove into that wall at full speed.
