After a herd of reindeer is mysteriously found dead after a meteorite hits Sweden's desolate Norrland, also known as Lapland, soldiers and a geologist are dispatched to investigate. Just as they discover that the meteorite is a spaceship, their plane is destroyed by a monster, and the soldier guarding the plane is killed. When the geologist and his girlfriend, a figure skater, try to escape by skiing, the monster strikes again, and the helpless girlfriend is kidnapped. What is this creation, and can it be stopped?
