Forty years ago, families began disappearing near the secluded Jolly Monkey Motel. It's not exactly a mystery where a film like The Jolly Monkey draws its inspiration, but thankfully, director Ryan Ebert uses it differently. For example, we find ourselves in a hotel where guests are being murdered. The first murder looks gruesome, but then the viewer discovers that they're all the same. What remains is a bland, atmosphere-less affair with poor acting, ridiculous plot twists, and an overly long runtime.
