Wonderful, often very funny documentary from HBO about a music genre that only got a name 25 years later. The mix of soft rock, pop and r&b, made big in the 70s by bands like Toto, The Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan, is jokingly called Yacht Rock in a comedy online series in 2005, after which it catches on worldwide and takes on a life of its own. The very entertainingly put together documentary has exactly the right balance between humor and respect for the music, with the artists of then and the fans of today having their say. It is all a feast of recognition and often hilarious, with great anecdotes and first-class archive material. The sketch with Rick Moranis, who as Michael McDonald runs from studio to studio like a headless chicken, is fantastic, for example.
