As a child, Eddie Murphy was already the class clown. He got his breakthrough in the TV show Saturday Night Live. His stand-up shows, in which he does not shy away from crude humor and stereotyping of minorities, are becoming extremely popular. As a movie star he conquers the world. At the Oscar ceremony in 1988, he spoke out about the lack of nominations for people of color. But he does not want to be called an activist. This documentary also reflects on the periods in which he seems to have lost touch with American society, but he continues to reinvent himself.
