Skad Dokad plot

The van has six seats in the back. Although they sit next to each other, the passengers do not know most of their fellow travelers. They are women, children, older men and a single young father. Wherever they come from, they are heading to the same destination: safety. In scenes shot on his journeys as an evacuation volunteer, Maciek Hamela portrays the stories of citizens who had to leave their homes during the recent Russian invasion of Ukraine.

After the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2002, hundreds of thousands of citizens fled, mainly to Poland. Maciek Hamela drives refugees from Ukraine to Poland and films them with a camera mounted on his rear-view mirror. During the journey, various refugees tell snippets of their story. In between, we see images of the devastation that has been caused. Ukrainians are just ordinary people, that quickly becomes clear. Good to know, but that message would have gotten across in a shorter format.
